Position: Cyber Security Engineer II Job Type: Full-Time, Remote (Hybrid Optional) Location(s): Remote with preferred localities in Austin, TX; Chicago, IL; or Washington, D.C. Metro Area. SteerBridge Strategies is seeking a Cyber Security Engineer to support the Loan Guaranty (LGY) program at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This role is part of a collaborative agile team modernizing legacy systems through secure and scalable software development practices.   PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS:  · Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Cybersecurity, or related field. · 2+ years of experience in software engineering or cybersecurity. · Eligible for federal security clearance. · Preferred: Security+ or equivalent cybersecurity certification. TECHNICAL SKILLS: · Experience with coding (e.g., Python, Java, C++, etc.). · Familiarity with secure development lifecycle and DevSecOps practices. · Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST 800-53, RMF). · Experience with CI/CD tools and version control (e.g., Git, Jenkins). · Understanding security controls (auth, encryption, logging).
