Job Title: GIS Technician I (Entry Level)

Overview:
We are seeking an entry-level GIS Technician I to support mapping, data management, and documentation efforts in a utility-focused environment. This role is ideal for candidates with a foundational understanding of GIS concepts, strong computer skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support GIS functions including mapping of services, updates for audits and permitting, and data analysis for integrity management.

• Maintain and organize documentation and records related to utilities, ensuring proper control and accessibility.

• Research historical records and data to support field operations.

• Verify and update GIS and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to facilitate communication and project coordination.

• Troubleshoot issues related to GIS systems and document control processes.

• Analyze data to resolve discrepancies and provide operational insights.

• Assist with ensuring workflows and updates are executed efficiently and in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Required Skills:

• Foundational knowledge of GIS concepts (academic or work experience).

• Strong computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite.

• Ability to handle multiple tasks, shifting priorities, and deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Nice to Have Skills:

• CAD or technical drawing experience.

• Understanding of topography.

• Utility industry experience.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

• GIS certification or degree preferred.
