At Phytest ( healthcare applications and reliable data flow are what keep labs operational, providers informed, and revenue moving. We’re looking for a Senior Healthcare Applications Lead who enjoys owning complex healthcare systems, improving how applications work together, and helping teams move faster with confidence.

This role sits at the intersection of healthcare applications, integrations, and operational delivery. While there are IT and platform responsibilities, the primary focus is on ensuring clinical, billing, and laboratory applications are properly connected, configured, and performing as intended.

This role exists because Phytest is growing and adding more clients, more labs, and more integrations. We need a hands-on leader who can lead healthcare applications integrations, reduce friction in client onboarding, and continuously improve how our platforms scale. You’ll be supported by experienced teammates who know the environment and value collaboration.

Healthcare Applications & Integrations

• Build, maintain, and improve integrations across EMRs, PM systems, LIS platforms, clearinghouses, payer systems, and downstream vendors
• Support and troubleshoot healthcare data exchange using HL7, X12, SFTP/FTPS, APIs, and flat files
• Resolve mapping issues, data mismatches, and workflow failures across clinical and financial systems
• Execute technical onboarding for new clients, including configuration, rules, mapping logic, pricing tables, eligibility data, and go-live readiness

Application Platforms & Environments

• Support and optimize healthcare applications backed by Microsoft SQL Server, including queries, performance tuning, backups, and troubleshooting
• Maintain and integrate applications hosted in IIS, Nginx and Node/Express environments
• Support secure access and role-based permissions through Active Directory (users, groups, roles)
• Partner with infrastructure vendors and internal resources to ensure application uptime, data availability, and secure access

Operational Ownership & Client Delivery

• Serve as the primary technical escalation point for healthcare application issues, driving root-cause analysis, remediation, and long-term fixes
• Lead client technical delivery from discovery through go-live and post-launch support, ensuring integrations remain stable and repeatable
• Maintain and evolve workflow logic, rules engines, and automation tools
• Act as Phytest’s technical point of contact with EMRs, clearinghouses, labs, payment processors, and integration partners
• Evaluate new tools and platforms, participate in pilots, and own integrations when adopted

Compliance & Security

• Ensure healthcare applications and data exchanges comply with HIPAA and PHI handling requirements
• Support audits, access reviews, and application security best practices
• Partner with leadership and vendors to maintain secure, well-documented system configurations

Experience

• 5–10 years of hands-on experience in healthcare IT or healthcare application integrations
• Strong experience with HL7, healthcare data standards, integration engines, and data mapping
• Worked with EMRs, PM systems, billing platforms, clearinghouses, or lab workflows
• A track record of owning complex technical problems and seeing them through to resolution
• Solid understanding of HIPAA, PHI handling, and healthcare security best practices

Extra Credit

• Experience supporting diagnostic labs, genetic testing, or complex RCM environments
• Familiarity with workflow modeling, rules engines, and automation platforms
• Prior experience as a technical lead or senior subject-matter expert
• Experience maintaining or extending AI-enabled workflows and evaluating new AI tools that improve healthcare operations
