eNGINE is seeking a is a Senior-level Network Engineer to support our Pittsburgh-based utilities customer. This person will be responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and optimizing enterprise IT and operational technology (OT) network infrastructure. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with dynamic routing, enterprise-grade firewalls, and large-scale network environments. They must be confident leading initiatives, working cross-functionally, and articulating technical decisions clearly. Applicants must be able to work onsite in Pittsburgh 2x/week.

Key Responsibilities

Network Design & Architecture

• Design and architect high-availability, scalable, and secure network solutions across corporate and OT environments.
• Lead initiatives involving LAN/WAN, wireless, cloud networking, data centers, firewalls, and optical transport.

Configuration & Implementation

• Configure, deploy, and maintain network equipment across Arista, Fortinet, Cisco, and F5 environments.
• Build and configure firewalls from the ground up, including command-line configuration.

Monitoring, Optimization & Support

• Utilize enterprise monitoring tools (SolarWinds, ExtraHop, FortiManager, CloudVision, etc.) to analyze performance, diagnose issues, and optimize network operations.
• Provide Tier III escalation support and serve as a subject matter expert across teams.

Security & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with security frameworks and regulatory standards (e.g., NERC CIP).
• Implement and manage firewalls, VPNs, access controls, and segmentation strategies.

Documentation & Leadership

• Maintain documentation including network diagrams, SOPs, configuration artifacts, and architectural models.
• Mentor junior engineers and serve as a technical leader on major network projects.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives, ensuring clear communication and successful project execution.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional network engineering experience
• 3+ years in a senior/lead engineering capacity
• Proven dynamic routing experience (BGP/OSPF)
• Strong hands-on firewall expertise (Fortinet preferred, but vendor-agnostic accepted)
• Experience configuring firewalls from scratch and via CLI
• Proven project leadership experience—must be able to lead initiatives, not just execute tasks
• Strong experience with:
• Arista switching & routing
• Fortinet firewalls
• Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, IOS, NX-OS
• F5 load balancers
• Azure cloud networking (ExpressRoute)
• Network management tools: CloudVision, ISE, FortiManager, Infoblox, SolarWinds, ExtraHop
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking, enterprise security, and change management (ITIL)
