What do people mean when they say you have to invest in yourself to be more successful?

Investing in yourself means you are putting time, money, and other resources into better
your current life and your future. Instead of just focusing on material things, you instead
look for opportunities that will raise your knowledge. This can make hugely positive impacts
for you and your future ventures.

Develop your skills
Skills are like upgrades to the quality of potential outcomes in your life. Also, nobody can
take learned skills away from you! They will be very transferrable to wherever you go or
wherever life takes you. This could be anything from completing a course online, attending
mastermind events, to downloading a free app to learn Spanish or something! Just like I’m
attending Netwomen events and learning Spanish on Duolingo at the moment.

Join a Network
Your net worth is directly correlated to your network. At Netwomen.co we celebrate each
other’s wins and offer support. Therefore, other people’s happiness becomes your
happiness. Your friends and network are your own personal and professional safety net.
Keeping friendships and connections thriving requires work, time and sometimes money
investment but it is definitely worth it for your work and personal life goals.

Enhance your mind through the body
The world is moving in a direction where it is more about intelligence in the mind and the
body is sort of, well, just holding the mind up. But, there is a deeper connection between
mind and body than most people realise! Healthy body = healthy mind and vice versa. That
is why it is so important to invest time and money into health habits like gym subscriptions
and healthy fresh foods. If price is an issue, then even getting some friends together outside
for free to get active can make all the difference. For example, a new Instagram page
@strongher has been set up to promote and plan get-togethers of women getting active
and trying new activities together we might have been scared to try alone. Check it out!

Become a Mentor
It’s been said time and time again, if you want to master a skill then teach it. This is because
it forces you to transfer the things and skills you know, into easily comprehendible bitesize
chunks in your head. By doing this you revisit the topics and learn more about each one in

Grow by Reading
Growth happens when you expose yourself to new concepts. This is a very accessible form
of investment. If you struggle with getting into books the advice I have been told is: read

what you love, until you love reading. There are also Google Chrome extensions that read
aloud articles online for you and of course audio books, YouTube videos and podcasts are
great ways of learning on the go or multitasking.

All these ways of investing in yourself come down to one thing- A single idea from a book,
networking event or while learning a new skill could make you thousands! It’s a world full
of abundance and opportunities for us out there we just need to make sure we are putting
ourselves out there for inspiration to strike!
